About The Conference

Agriculture has long been the backbone of India’s economy, and scientific advances in agri inputs have driven remarkable gains in productivity. Yet, the growing menace of fake, spurious, substandard and counterfeit inputs have emerged as a serious threat, often leading to crop failures, farmer distress, declined exports and loss of trust in the system.

Recognizing this urgent challenge, the Agriculture Minister has recently directed a nationwide crackdown on counterfeit inputs, urging states and regulatory bodies to intensify action. Building on this momentum, the National Conference on Quality Agri Inputs being convened by Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture will provide a timely platform for government, industry, associations, research institutions, regulatory and export promotion agencies, and farmer bodies to come together, deliberate on solutions, and chart a roadmap for policy framework, quality assurance and farmer protection.

Objectives
Of The Conference

To consider the following issues:

  • Curbing the production and sale of spurious, substandard and counterfeit seeds, pesticides and fertilisers.
  • Addressing forced tagging and other coercive practices in the agri-input distribution system.
  • Strengthening enforcement mechanisms under the relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensuring transparency and accountability across the seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides supply chains.
  • Safeguarding farmers’ interests through effective monitoring, awareness campaigns, and grievance redressal systems.
  • Encouraging industry associations and stakeholders to adopt self-regulation and global best practices.
  • Examining the implications of spurious and poor-quality agri-inputs on India’s agricultural exports and global trade competitiveness.
