India Agriculture Sustainability Council

A National Platform for Transforming Indian Agriculture

Sustainability | Climate Resilience | Green Innovation | Food Security

Background

India’s agriculture sector is at a crossroads. With over 56% of the population dependent on farming, the challenges of climate change, soil degradation, groundwater depletion, and input-intensive practices demand a shift in approach.

As the nation looks to secure food for 1.4 billion people, there is an urgent need to move from production centric models to sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agri-food systems. The India Agriculture Sustainability Council (IASC) emerges as a national platform to guide this transition—aligning with global sustainability goals while ensuring economic prosperity for rural India.
