The 2nd India–Africa Seed Summit 2026 was formally inaugurated on 16 September in Hyderabad, featuring the ceremonial lamp lighting, welcome addresses and the launch of the 2nd India–Africa Seed Trade Report: Seeds Without Borders. The session brought together senior policymakers, researchers and industry leaders who highlighted the vital role of quality seed in food security, climate resilience and agricultural transformation, especially for Africa’s smallholders. Key discussions focused on joint research and breeding, climate-resilient varieties, regulatory harmonisation, quality assurance, technology transfer, digital traceability, capacity building and investment—calling for stronger, long-term and equitable India–Africa seed partnerships.
Held on 15 September 2026, the Roundtable, chaired by Dr. Tarun Shridhar, DG, ICFA, brought together senior seed industry leaders from India and Africa to set the business agenda for the 2nd India–Africa Seed Summit. Hosted by ICFA in partnership with AFSTA, discussions focused on market access, regulatory frameworks, seed certification, technology and R&D, investments, joint ventures, value chains and B2B partnerships. The Roundtable identified actionable pathways to strengthen trade, technology collaboration and private-sector partnerships between India and Africa.
