ABOUT THE SEMINAR

India is the largest cotton cultivator in the world, yet its productivity levels remain among the lowest globally. With over 6 million cotton farmers and more than 50 million people dependent on the cotton value chain, cotton remains at the heart of India’s agricultural and textile sectors.
The Union Budget 2025-26 launched a dedicated "Mission for Cotton Productivity" under the Ministry of Textiles. This 5-year program aims to improve productivity, sustainability, and promote Extra-Long Staple (ELS) cotton, enhancing the competitiveness of the Indian textile industry, where MSMEs play a pivotal role.
To catalyze national action, ICFA is organizing this high-level seminar bringing together policy leaders, cotton producers, industry experts, and scientific institutions.

Objectives Of The Seminar

To deliberate on productivity enhancement, sustainability, and innovation in cotton farming.
To promote Extra-Long Staple (ELS) cotton and reduce import dependency.
To strengthen institutional support and partnerships in cotton value chains.
To align stakeholders with the government's 5F vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign).
To advance a policy roadmap and industry action for supporting MSMEs in the cotton and textile ecosystem.
